Trail work at Ted Williams |
|
On 10/16/09 we did get out to TW and were able to work on one of the sections we had discussed with DFG, the upper seasonal stream crossing. Directly uphill of a seasonal stream crossing area, there was a rather large trail (actually 2 trails that ran parallel to each other) that dropped into it and connected other upper trials into the main line. We focused on this area and 'closed' down the upper left trail by covering it with rocks and dead brush that was discarded off to the side when the trail was originally cut in. Our goal here was to completely close access to this specific go-around trail and allow the vegetation to grow back over time. To accomplish this, we had to leave the right line open, since it was the natural course of water taken while this seasonal stream is active (we felt that covering the natural water flow line was not the best choice). Before:
After: a better and more sustainable trail!
